k3b - Forgets device configuration?

I'm running Slackware 10.0, Kernel 2.6.10 with K3b 0.11.19. Everytime I run k3b (at least as a normal user), it will tell me that

Quote:
It seems this is the first time you start K3b 0.11.19 with this device configuration. Please verify if the writing speeds have been detected properly and correct them if necessary
.

Regardless of how many times I correct the speed (or leave it alone), it always pops up when I run K3b again. I know this problem is not unique to Slackware--it happened under Suse 9.1 and 9.2 as well. My guess is that this is some kind of permissions error, but how do I fix this?
