K3B Driver Prob...
I just downloaded and installed (1st sucessful install so far!) K3B CD Burning software. It runs, it reads my burner and everything but it wont burn.
It says that my cdrdao driver is out of date and cannot write to my burner and that I either need to update it or 'fix' it manually. I'm sorry I don't have the exact error it put out but apparently I'm not the only one with this error so maybe what i typed will trigger someones memory. Any help will be appreciated. Oh yeah, I'm on Slackware 9.1 Thanks, Chris |
that is strange, usually cdrecord version is installed by default... did you do a full install or a custom?
if all else fails go to google look up linux cdrecord and d-load newest version (2.xx) or something. |
I installed full version of Slackware. No customizing for me ...yet. Don't know enough about the process yet.
So simply find a newer version and overwrite the previous? That seems too simple...heh thank you, chris |
it does seeem to simple, but k3b works for me, and I have installed the same version of cdrecord over the old, and did so before ever using k3b. there may be a connection, maybe k3b looks for cdrecord in a place other than where slackware puts it, and the regular install placed it correctly, who knows until we try

I had a problem with K3b that it wouldn't auto detect my burner, so i had to manually pick my toshiba writer from the list in the setup. Can you not just go download the new version of cdrdao and install it?

Alright. I got a football game to go to later tonight but after that, i'm gonna jump on there and if I make any progress, i'll let you know.
