K3b CD Ripping to mp3?

I'm having serious problems with cd ripping. First of all, I really like the program K3b. The problem though is that I can't rip CDs to mp3? I can rip it to wav without a problem, but when I choose the lame encoder it always says error. I do have lame 3.96.1 installed.

I tried using Grip and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I mean it'll rip the tracks fine, but when it comes to encoding it'll encode about a little less than a quarter of the track and then it's done. I don't get it? What's goin' on here? It's really annoying. Although I have ripped a few CD's with Grip already it just doesn't wanna' work now.

Another thing with K3b is that when I enter my CD-ROM it says it's not able to enter. Why is that? But yet it can enter my DVD-ROM (which is slower and I don't want that).

Just to let you know I can easily convert wav2mp3 with lame from the command line, but that takes too damn long when I can have it all automated with a gui.
