k3b

Usually to set up your cd recorder in k3b you have to run k3b setup (it's different from configuration). I ran into that when I compiled a 2.6.4 kernel and got rid of scsi emulation...k3b got confused and I had to go into k3b setup to tell it what the hell was going on.

If root can see it and users can't, check the permissions on your mounted drive(s).

Permissions

That's why I mentioned k3b setup...it would set those permissions automagically, so he wouldn't have to get his hands dirty

Getting your hands dirty is how you learn .

A great thanks to all of you. I've thought something like control permissions ( it's not too dirty ) but yours responses cleared up my mind. I'll try and report eventual problems.

Grazie

P.S. I'm waiting for June to install the new SuSE 9.1 with kernel 2.6.x !!!!

permission

I've tried to use k3b setup but it doesn't work. So I've tried to change permission of cdrecorder but I don't know how.

Should I use chmode or chown to let users see /dev/sr0 inside k3b???

However I've tried to record under root with k3b but when I insert the CD-R into the recorder K3b displays an error.

What I've to do??? Maybe reinstall the whole system ????

What is the error message you get when running k3b as root?
