K3B Burns so Slowly

Hello.
I'm running Ubuntu Linux and using K3b to burn my data.
When It burns it tells me that its going to start burning at 8x but in reality it won't go over 2.5 when burning a DVD. It tells me 40x when burning a CD but in real life only 20x.
Does anyone know why it can't burn DVD's faster than 2x.
Is the fact that its getting the data from an NTFS drive at fault?

Your actual burning speed may depend on so many variables.
Burning from an NTFS partition will add some overhead.

Perhaps you could try using a system monitor like gkrellm.
This will help you to identify what is running slow(er).
