Jre1.5.0

I donwloaded Sun's JRE1.5.0 Beta 2 and am wondering how I would install this. I sh'd the .bin file and it just created a directory "jre1.5.0". What do I do with this. When I type "$ java -version" I get the 1.4.2 version. How do I replace it with 1.5?
