Unhappy JRE Plugin for Netscape

I downloaded and ran self extrating JRE runtime edition, but still the netscape is asking me to download the java plugin.

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/download.html
(Linux RPM in self-extracting file)

It seems that netscape is not finding that plugin in my linux system.

please help.

You need to make a link from where you installed it to your Netscape plugin directory.

ln -s /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_01/jre/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla-1.0.1/plugins/

At least this is the code for the 1.4.1 SDK installation. I have instructions on my website: < http://members.shaw.ca/trollking/ >.

If you don't want to program in Java but just want java applications to run in mozilla or Galeon than just download the Java2Runtime and symbolically link libjavaplugin_oji.so to the mozilla plugin path.
