john the ripper: crash recovery file is locked (???)

[root@localhost run]# ./john shadow
Loaded 2 passwords with 2 different salts (FreeBSD MD5 [32/32])
Crash recovery file is locked: ./restore
[root@localhost run]#
what to do?

i tried this:

[root@localhost run]# ./restore
bash: ./restore: Permission denied
[root@localhost run]#
nothing. can i just delete the restore file?

well, what are the permissions of this ./restore file
just change them to read/write
