java won't install

This is what I get when I follow the directions at:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/jre/i...ml#install-rpm

First I made it an executable:
chmod a+x j2re-1_4_2_01-linux-i586-rpm.bin

Now I need to run the binary but it won't run.

[root@xxxxx]# ./j2re-1_4_2_01-linux-i586-rpm.bin
bash: ./j2re-1_4_2_01-linux-i586-rpm.bin: bad interpreter: Text file busy

I also re-downloaded it and dropped the .bin off of the end and tried to install it. Replaced the dashes after the i586 with period and then chmod 660 j2re-1_4_2_01-linux-i586.rpm Got this:

j2re-1_4_2_01-linux-i586-rpm: read manifest failed: Success

Don't know what either error message means.

go to the original file (with bin on the end). instead of ./filename do an sh filename

see if that works.
