Java VM Setup

I'm trying to install LimeWire, but it said I needed a Java VM installed. So I downloaded j2re-1_4_1_02-linux-i586-rpm.bin from Sun's website. It installed fine, and its working nicely (I installed the plugin for Mozilla, as well).

So when I retry the LimeWire install, I still get the same message about a VM not being available. It says it can't be found from my PATH environment variable.

Does anyone know how I can set up my PATH for Sun's Java VM?

I created a file
/etc/profile.d/java.sh
with the following contents to make it work :)
Code:
#!/bin/sh
# Add JDK1.3 specific settings
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/java/bin:/usr/java/jre/bin
You'd have to make it point to your
java engines location, of course :}

Cheers,
Tink

If that fails for you, here is another way using the JavaSDK: < http://members.shaw.ca/trollking >.

Make sure to delete the backup: .bash_profile~
And log out and back into the desktop for the changes to take effect.

I install Limewire, downloading the Java stuff from sun, and doing this as and user in console:

bash$ export PATH:"$PATH:/home/you/java directory"

then to look if java install or not you do:

bash$ echo $PATH

now you should install Limewire at least it works for me.
