java programs won't start on desktop

hi

when i try to execute a java program like limewire or azureus on the desktop, it won't start.
however when i open a shell an execute it from the shell, it starts properly.

i think it has something to do with the java path settings.
this is what i have in my .bashrc:
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/jdk1.5.0_05
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/jdk1.5.0_05/bin
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/eclipse

what do i have to do to make the programs execute from the desktop?

grtz

You need to put your paths in .bash_profile.

i edited .bash_profile

these are the paths in it:
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/jdk1.5.0_05
export JDK_HOME=/usr/local/jdk1.5.0_05
export CLASSPATH=$JDK_HOME
export CLASSPATH=.:$CLASSPATH
export PATH="$PATH:${JDK_HOME}/bin:${JDK_HOME}/jre/bin"
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/eclipse

i rebooted but it has no effect

now when i click the icon a terminal window flashes open end closes again.
this happens in a millisecond or so.
way to quick to read anything, you can barely see it
