java plugin on mozilla redhat 9

hi guys,

noobie alert.

i'm trying to set up my java plugin for mozilla. surprisingly mozilla didn't have any java plugin when i first installed red hat 9. i think i messed up the custom package installation last time. i downloaded the j2sdk1.4._02 and installed it. but from there on i'm not really sure where should i head. i tried copying the javalibiso... plugin file from /usr/java/j2.../jre/plugins/ns610 to my ~/.mozilla/plugins, but it didn't work. the plugin info page in mozilla lists the plugin successfullly, but whenever i try to run it, it crashes.

thanks!

Hmmm

Just noticed this to myself. I to have just installed red hat 9.0.

it is not your package selection that caused this, just the way it is I think. Flash to comes up this way.

let me see what I can do.

you need to link the file, not copy it.

Try ln -s /usr/java/j2.../jre/plugins/ns610 ~/.mozilla/plugins

The easisest way to do it with mozilla is

1) Go to a site that has a Java Applet in it (www.bbc.com , for example)
2) Mozilla will prompt you for Java
3) Say ok
4) It will redirect you to a page where there are 4 buttons...click the one for Linux
5) The installation will be automatically done and everything willbe set up on the fly

Hope that helps....
