Im struggling with getting the java plugin working in konquer. I have created the required links to get it to work in firefox, which it does. However in konq when i do about : plugins it lists java however when i test it on a java page it does not work. So its detected the plug in is there. Any ideas what I need to do? Its looking in the mozilla and firefox folders already for plugins.

May depend on which plugin you are using. Do you Know where the java plugin for firefox is installed? Then open a Konqueror window and select Settings > Configure Konqueror > Plugins > Netscape Plugins. Add the directory where the plugin is and then hit the Scan for new plugins. Select the plugins tab there and see what it has found.
Im using the sun java 1.5 jre. I had to manually create the system links to the /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins directory. Firefox can see and use this ok. I have also told konq to look in that directory for the plugins. It works on the official sun java test page and it says im using 1.5.06 which is correct but on all other pages where java applets are present i just get message i dont have the plugin, how ever those same pages work in firefox
Konqueror does not use the Java plugin like Mozilla browsers. In fact, as long as Java is installed on your machine Konqueror should work. Since there is no Java plugin for AMD 64, I usually switch to Konqueror if I need to view a Java applet on the web and it works fine.

Not sure what to do but have you set the java enviroment variables to point to the newest install? Not sure if it would make a difference since it reports the correct version at the sun site.
