yeh i have been looking at the jmf. i am specifically looking for any sort of applications that are already written, using jmf or not. i could write something, but i dont have the time or desire to, would much rather find a project that i could use. plus, i dont know how much the jmf could do even if i put the time into it. i would love to see an example of a robust java media player/editor, even if it is closed source.

yeh really! thats what i would ask if someone asked me this question. the only reason i want to is because my PM wants to integrate video playing and possible editing into this app that we developed. its a java app, and i have been telling everyone that media and java do not play well together, but no listeners.

so i anyone has any ideas or references ill take em..

JMF will do it, of course other things will do it better.

The OO nature of the JMF means that it uses factories for most things, this being the case many people have produced plug in classes that will allow for most video / audio formats, just dont try anything too special and you should be fine.

Embedding flash video in the application is also an acceptable alternative.

Cheers
