If you installed the plug-in,, which I'm assuming you did, because that is what youstated. This is more then likely a plug-in for a browser.. and would not work from the command line.

If you looking to insatll java to run some programs.. you should take a look here:

http://java.sun.com/products/archive...all-linux.html

IBM also has java for linux whic you can find some info here:

http://www.linux.org/docs/ldp/howto/...dkinstall.html

a quick google seach gave me both of these links..

go to the link at the end of this and follow it step by step, it is a failproof way to install java and get the path correct and everything, it helped me so much, hope it does the same for you!

What...Mozilla 1.4 doesn't have a plug-in directory. If it does, just make a symbolic link to the NS6 java plug-in. In Mozilla click on help and click on About plug-ins.

Just make a symbolic link in /bin or other directories that you prefer. You are on your own on finding the java directory.

discovered last night via irc that if you apt get blackdown the plugin will not work. that's why i've had so much trouble. sure netbeans, eclipse, limewire or any java program works no prob* but the plugin just will not work. you have to compile blackdown yourself on sid.
