java 1.5 extremely ugly?

Hi, I have just downloaded and installed Sun's jre 1.5.0_01 on my ubuntu box and it is extremely ugly. I opened Limewire right after to test it, and it looks awful compared to 1.4.2_06....has anyone else noticed this?

I'm no expert but it isn't Java itself, aren't third-party toolkits used to draw widgets? I dunno but I use Azureus with Java 1.5 and it looks fine

I guess extremely ugly was a rather strong word. I have gotten used to the new "feel" of it, it actually seems to blend in better now. Although, it may just be Limewire and Java 1.5 having compatability problems, who knows?

One thing I have to commend Sun for, 1.5 is light years ahead of 1.4 when it comes to speed. Programs start probably twice as fast....not much longer than a normal Gnome application in Ubuntu. 1.4 seemed to take forever to even load a simple program like Azureus.

Really, it just seems the windows are rounded at the corners slightly differently now and the fonts are a tad bit bigger and I just wasn't used to it.

I just installed Azureus now and it seems to look and function the same, except for it being faster now. I guess if Sun keeps pulling Java in the right direction, people cant bitch about it being slow anymore

Java was never slow, the GUI toolkits were what held it back
