JACK issues with audio software

Hi, I am getting errors with zynAddSubFx and another audio program. When I try to run it, I get these error messages:
Quote:

lash_open_socket: could not connect to host 'localhost', service '14541'
lash_comm_connect_to_server: could not create server connection

lash_init: LASH_START_SERVER unset, not attempting to start server automatically

ERROR: Cannot make a jack client (possible reasons: JACK server is not running or jackd is launched by root and zynaddsubfx by another user.).
I Googled around and found that this can be caused by the the JACK server not running, so I downlaoded Qjackctl, but when I clicked the Start button, I got this error:

Why won't this work? I have a Gateway GT5428 computer, and Fedora 7 Linux.

is hw:0 the midi port?
you may be able to use it without jack;
from the doc's
If you use ALSA, don't forget to connect the midi output device (or program) with ZynAddSubFX (you can use "acconect" or "alsa-patch-bay" to do this)

How do I know, which is the midi port?
