JACK doesnt work. Begging for help.

I still have my ******* sound problem. (WHY IS IT SO ******* DIFFICULT TO MAKE LINUX DO SOMETHING THAT TAKES LESS THAN 2 MINS TO DO IN WINDOWS!? WHY!?) Mandrake installed esd by default. I installed JACK and tried to make it work by the command:
---------------------------------------------------------
jackd -v -R -d alsa -d snd-intel8x0 -p 64
---------------------------------------------------------
And the result was:
-------------------------------------------------------------
getting driver descriptor from /usr/lib/jack/jack_alsa.so
getting driver descriptor from /usr/lib/jack/jack_dummy.so
jackd 0.94.0

jackd: pcm.c:690: snd_pcm_nonblock: Assertion `pcm' failed.

I am so frustrated. Every time I think I have the solution to my problem it turns out to be a false hope. My computer seems to learned to hate me personally since I switched to Linux.

My distro - Mandrake 10 with Kernel 2.6.X
Sound device - CMI9739 AC97 sound chip, using the snd-intel8x0 driver

BTW: It is nice to have a linux community to help each other out, but in windows no one really needs a community that much cause there aren't as many problems. IMO. If it was not for my sheer hatred of M$ I wouldn't be here.
