Issues with VirtualBox in Fedora9

Hello guys,

I have installed the latest Virtualbox in fedora9. I need to do virtualization. I have yet to create a new virtual machine due to these issues.

1. I have installed the relevan packages including kernel-devel-2.6.25.14.108.i686.rpm

2. I tried this step which is

setup /etc/init.d/vboxdrv

And I get this screen

http://img390.imageshack.us/img390/2...rorcopybe6.jpg
And After making the config I don't know how to move on.

When I start virtualbox and try to create a new machince and right click and select start I get this error.

How can I come over these and move on? I would like to virtualize another fedora9 OS as client.

p.s I am a noob to linux and just entered the linux world.

try to run this:modprobe vboxdrv
if it works you can add vboxdrv to /etc/modules

Did you do that with root right?
If it still not work, you should try to compile the module.
If you install the right rpm package with sources you can follow this with root right:
1.cd /usr/src
2.tar xjvf virtualbox*.bz2
3.cd modules/virtualbox-ose
4../build_in_tmp install
5./etc/init.d/vboxdrv start

If you see :* Starting VirtualBox kernel module vboxdrv [ OK ]
then everything is ok.

I tried to follw the steps but some issues with that too.

Under /usr/src, Virtualbox* does not exist

and Modules directory doesn't exist too

I have tried by booting through both the normal and PAE kernels by root but to no avail.

Maybe you rpm packages didn't include the source of virtualbox.
Can you show the rpm packages you used?
Or downloading a source package to compile it by yourself may solve the problem.

I followed these, "make, automake, autoconf, gcc, kernel-devel"

But i had a hard time finding the kernel-devel for the fedora 9 kernel and installed this. kernel-devel-2.6.25-14.fc9.i686.rpm.

Or should i install this?kernel-devel-2.6.25.14-108.fc9.i686.rpm??

Is this the right rpm or is there anything else?

And should i follow the above steps in the PAE kernel??

Thanks

And sorry I missed this out, This is the virtual box rpm i downloaded.

VirtualBox-1.6.4_33808_fedora9-1.i586.rpm

Would this work on a i686 kernel?

should the kernel-devel be i586 too then??

In order to use VirtualBox you need:

1. install the kernel header files
2. install VB (the installation should build the module and modprobe it)
3. add your user account to the vboxusers group
4. Run VB and set up a disk image
5. Install an operating system to the disk image.

Hope this helps!
