Issues running cube (first person shooter) on linux mandrake 9.2

ok anyone here ever played Cube (freeware first person shooter that can be got at *am not allowed to say according to the site*)?
i tried to set it up on Linux and upon running the shell cube_unix file which is supposed to run the game i got this in response:

Code:
[root@localhost cube]# sh cube_unix
init: sdl
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

Unable to initialize SDL (Unable to open a console terminal)
[root@localhost cube]#
how do i make it run?

PS please dont go nuts on the root user thing its just that i had just installed it and needed root user to do that

well we just may have to go nuts about the root thing
cause are you logged into X as a normal user ? but logged into the terminal as root ?

cause you can't do that ;-)
read this to see how to get around it ...
but my suggestion is just to run cube as your normal user that your logged in as instead of doing what i linked above, but i linked it for you'll know why what you are doing isn't working ...
