Issue with compiling HPNA driver

Hi guys. I installed vector linux 4.0 (Slackware based) on my old 200mmx, and the thing runs great. The only problem is that I can't get my HPNA network card to work. I downloaded the linksys HPNA drivers, and followed their instructions step by step.

At some point, it says I sould type "insmod il" (il.o is the driver module I guess). I then get an error message saying something like "the module il.o you are installing is compiled with a gcc version 2 compiler whereas the Kernel you are using is compiled with gcc ver 3 compiler."

To compile the drivers, I used gmake. I also tried make. The result is the same. I typed "gcc -v" and saw that my gcc was version 3.2.2

Please help me, since the computer has no use without a network connection.

Thanks.
