Is there any tool which can make screenshots and then do a simple annotation/editing?

Hi All,

recently I found a great firefox addon fireshot: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5648

it's really useful as it can both make a screenshot and add some annotations in the picture.

But it doesn't support linux!!

Do we have other alternatives for such a smart tool? it should support annotation. it's very important function.

thanks in advance!

Lots of applications exist for screenshots. Imagemagick's import, KDE's ksnapshot, etc.
For annotations, try some Imagemagick magic.

Another option is gimp. It can acquire a screenshot of the whole screen or a single window. Then you can edit the image at your pleasure.

Gimp is a little too large, I think. btw, I don't know how to draw a box in gimp except select area first and then make strokes. too complex in terms of annotation tool.

I need a light-weight application.

Let me try xsnap first, and I'll come back to report it.

Thanks for your replies.

I agree with you and that's why I use xsnap, it's lightweight and do exactly what I (and you) need.

I have xsnap installed, however, it seems it has problems in my computer. when running xsnao, it reported:
Code:
xsnap error : impossible to load font -bitstream-bitstream vera sans-medium-r-normal-*-*-100-*-*-p-*-iso8859-*
How to fix this problem?

any ideas are really appreciated, thanks.

it seems you're lacking some fonts. Just install them.
