I bought a 256Mb sony network walkman, but i can't use it on linux, because it needs its own software (sonicstage) to copy music on it. (I don't know why storing music with that atrac container is better than what others do, but that's not the point here.)
Does anyone know a software I can place my audio data on the right way to my player with?
Some specifications on the Atrac3 container format could be helpful too.
When I had a net-MD player, the only linux tools available could only look what was stored in the discs. At that time sony was unwilling to make their players work under anything else than windows, and I doubt that attitude has changed.
There is no reason to use atrac other that vendor lock-in. Mp3, ogg and aac are superior in every aspect.
Even ipods work in linux. You might want to switch your player.
