Is There an Open Source Equivalent to Outlook for Windows?

Is there any such thing as an open source equivalent of MS Outlook, which runs on Windows? All I can find so far is "Chandler" and it is nowhere near ready for use.

Thunderbird from Mozilla.org

T-bird not a PIM

Yes, I know Thunderbird well, however, it's not a PIM and is missing too many features our small office is dependant on in Outlook. What I wish I could find is a full-featured Open Source PIM.

Sorry if my original question was unclear.

Although I only use webmail, my friend is a recent Thunderbird convert and loves it...much better than Outlook Express [although that isn't too hard]
It runs on Mac OS X and Linux as well as M$ Windows

Try evolution.

Maybe I should write an open source Outlook clone some year way off in the future... Suppose I should learn C++ or something first...;)

mozilla is working on an OS competition to Outlook, check their home page and see what it is called. currently it is in very early beta, but it is supposed to have most of the fetures of Outlook already and by the time it gets into later betas and live vs it should be as good or better then outlook, well better as it will not have all of the security issues you have now with outlook.

Ximian Evolution from Novell is excellent.

I just wish there were a true replacement for Microsoft Exchange (the server component Outlook talks to for email, shared calendaring, notes, tasks, etc)

Evolution on Windows???

I'm looking for something that will run on Windows.

Evolution won't run on Windows, will it?

http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird.html

try that. Sunbird is what Mozilla is calling their project that is gearing up to compete with Outlook. it is cross platform Linux, MAC, Windows, but as mentioned in early early beta so keep that in mind.

Very soon it will because novell are porting it to Winbloze. In the mean time you can take a look at thunderbird and sunbird.

Sorry, I thought you were looking for a Linux program equivalent to Outlook on Windows, particularly since you posted in the Linux Software forum. Between that and the phrasing my misunderstanding your question is understandable, don't you think? Anyhow, My bad! :D

Not yet. You might be able to coax it to compile and run via cygwin but that would be painful at best. :(
