Is there a software for streaming live video
I want to do a tv site... basically when someone signs in a tv station (or video that i edited) to be streaming when they first log on.... and i want the certain videos to start at certain times.
Also i want to do something like a PERSONAL orb site (www.orb.com) Where i have a tv tunner in the server hooked to my cable and when i log in i can watch different tv shows Is there any software out there for linux????? |
check out VLC ... afaik it allows you to stream videos .. not sure it covers all your needs though .. you can be the best judge of that .

I am looking forward to reading his reply, indeed. I am sure he will say "nope" :) I prefer to use mythtv (the difficult guy) and kaffeine. |

What about Peercast or Winamp TV? As far as Orb, I heard some people successfully use it in a Virtual Windows XP (vmware) on top of their Linux box. It might be worth a shot if you have a decent computer. |
you can stream video from xine too. you just set xine to "--broadcast-port" and then a port that is open. then you can make a file (such as an asx) which has slave://address:port
but such a file would only work in xine... for a more cross player support..mms:// is generaly well supported. though im not sure what is needed to stream on that. |
for console streaming, if you are not afraid of command line, there is
Code:
vls the key of your streaming for your server should be without frontend |
I do it with vlc (open advanced media menu) and stream movies from my home box to an Internet Tablet, through wireless network.
Does what it's supposed to do as long as you find correct settings accepted by both ends (vlc for streaming and mplayer for viewing). I use http transport. But I'd also be interested to hear from other users :) |
