Is there a d/L link for vlc media player on YDL on 6.1?

I go to Videolan.org and click download. It takes me to another page that has a list of dif. Linux OS's. I believe yellow dog is considered "red hat".
Ok, so I click red hat and it opens these RPM files. How do you make use of a RPM pack in Linux? I want to watch YouTube thru my PS3 with yellow dog 6.1
any help is really appreciated.

ok i got VLC and Mplayer installed heres how i did it

I got the two players installed by following these directions: http://www.yellowdog-board.com/viewt...hp?f=19&t=3017
before when I would go to system tools, then add/remove programs I would run a search for VLC and Mplayer and it would ALWAYS come back with NO RESULTS FOUND.... After following the noted link above now when I ran a search it found BOTH!! Cool, so I D/L both of them.
Thinking now that I can watch Youtube videos i eagerly opened YOUTUBE but I still get NOTHING.
Upon opening youtube it looks like its about to play (you can see a black figure that resembles a media player but then it just disappears and nothing happens. Page said its "done" loading.

SO far, I have grease monkey. WHen I go to mozilla, Tools, Greasemonkey, Manage user scripts, In the top right it says YOUTOTEM. DO i have to do something with it thru the Manage user scripts?

ANother thought. Ever since I followed the link above, which allowed me to download the media players that before I was not able to get thru add/remove programs, Firefox keeps crashing every so often.. WHats happening? Please help me. ONce i get this fixed and youtube running. It will be ALL that I ever NEED on my LINUX on my PS3.
I dont want to keep getting the unexpected crash of firefox anymore eather. It crashes and then just opens and works for a while. Im using it right now..

"Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://browser/content/safebrowsing/sb-loader.js :: anonymous :: line 48" data: no]

How many media players do you have installed? If its multiple players and their mozilla plugins, this could be causing some sort of conflict resulting in the problems you are experiencing. Try just using mplayer and the mplayer mozilla plugin or just VLC and its mozilla plugin. For youtube, do you have flash installed? If you have swfdec or gnash, uninstall them and use official flash.

I uninstalled gnash, uninstalled mplayer. What do you mean by official flash? Is that the name of it? I searched and didn't find. Sorry if that is a dumb question. I have Vlc installed but nothing plays on YouTube

THanks for all the help. I got youtube up and running finally. It took hours but it was worth it. http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/...owdoglinux.txt I followed the directions and ALL I WAS MISSING WAS VLCTUBE which for some reason is not available thru add/remove programs. It must be 3rd party but it worked like a charm after I installed it and restarted firefox.
NOw, how do i get myspace music to play?? It says I need a flash player. Do i need to reinstall GNash for myspace music or do i need something else?
THanks again.

The official flash plugin is the one you get from Adobes website, but I have just noticed they don't have a version that will work on Yellowdog. This means that you probably have to use gnash if you want flash support.
