Is SELinux really useful for a desktop

I have been using Fedora for about two years. I love it except one thing: I can not get used to SELinux. SELinux in Fedora evolves rapidly and it is not uncommon that an updated SELinux breaks up other things. So here is my question: is it really useful for a desktop which doesn't have a whole bunches of services running except OpenSSH? I am deciding whether to disable SELinux for good.

SELinux may be MORE useful on a desktop than on a server. Here is my reasoning. The server will generally live a protected life compared to a desktop computer. Usually people will not be running YouTube videos, visiting FaceBook, reading email, etc. on a server. These kinds of activities expose a desktop computer to more kinds of hostile attempts to harm the computer.

To me the server is like a military general sitting in the command post while the desktop computer is like the infantry soldier directly exposed to enemy attack. The front line soldier needs to wear more armor and carry more weapons than does the general.

I would agree selinux is being very rapidly developed (and unfortunately fedora seems to be the playground to do it in) this is one reason why I prefer something like scientific linux or centos.
