is SASL neccesary?


I use Thunderbird for mail and I am in the process of shutting down unnecesarry services. Do I need SASL authenticaion service running?

If you are running an e-mail server and you want to allow people from outside to use your SMTP server to mail people other then your local users I suggest you use it. If you aren't running an e-mail server you probably don't need to be runnign SASL.
