Is it possible to keep nmbd up when there's no network connection?

Hi, guys!

I had a problem recently with one samba server we have at work. The server works fine, however, it was necessary to disconnect it from the net for a while, and then nmbd shut down.

This is the log line for that event:

Is it possible to configure it so that it stays up even if there are no network interfaces up?

You may simply need to enable hotplugging for the network, or for that device. If you are using Mandrake, look in the 'Configure network connections' module for MCC.

I took a look at the nics configuration with drakconf, and found that hotplug is already enabled.... so what could I try now?

And second.... what does "hotplug" does? and how can I handle it at the "console" level?
