Is it possible to get into shell when you're in Recovery-mode to copy a device-block?

Hi!

I am trying to create a backup from current run-state via ssh & I've managed to copy almost all blocks under /dev/block/, but stl-blocks won't copy.
I have remounted every partition in my tablet to rw & stl1 was mounted under /cache

I tried to unmount the other mounting points to copy the remaining stl-blocks, but still no luck.

I found an old thread on XDA-developers.com that looks like a possible solution, but I'm not the expert to tell if that would work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=750663

Here's all info from my tablet:

The tablet IS rooted, but not flashed.

Please let me know if I've missed to give you some info.
