is it possible to automatically execute a command when cd is mounted?
 
I was wondering if it's possible to setup my computer to automatically execute a shell command when my computer mounts a CD or DVD? I want to execute a command to share my DVD drive with my other computer using xine. http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.p...viewcvs-markup

Yes, there are several approaches:

1. You can have an "autorun" on your media that gets invoked when the media is inserted, e.g.:

2. You can configure your desktop (for example, KDE) to invoke a specific program when media is inserted, e.g.:
