I am wondering if anyone can help me out...I am ultimately trying to installed FreeTDS and DBD::Sybase to interface a RHL9 box to a M$ SQL server. According to what I have read, I have to install FreeTDS first and then DBD::Sybase....with that, I did the rpm -ivh freeXXXXXXXXXX
then I did....
[root@npsdev ]# rpm -ivh freetds-0.61.2-0.rh90.dag.i386.rpm
warning: freetds-0.61.2-0.rh90.dag.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 6b8d79e6
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
package freetds-0.61.2-0.rh90.dag is already installed
[root@npsdev ]# rpm -qi freetds-0.61.2-0.rh90.dag.i386.rpm
package freetds-0.61.2-0.rh90.dag.i386.rpm is not installed
[root@npsdev ]#
It installed but when I try to look for it, it can't be found. According to the same threads I should look for this in /usr/local/ - I simply can't find it anywhere on my box....
when you add / remove programs in windows, you don't uninstall "setup.exe" do you? you uninstall "Microsoft Office".... same for rpm's "freetds-0.61.2-0.rh90.dag.i386.rpm" is just the name of a file...
rpm -q freetds
one of those thread titles where you know the answer before you read the post!
Acid - shaking head - sorry about that -
I understood exactly what you said when you related it to MS.
For some reason I am getting lost. All I want to do is install this RPM ("rpm -ivh freetdsXXXXXXX") and then try to interface with DBD::Sybase for M$ Sql Server
According to what I read - "rpm -qi package" will give me lots of info about the specific package.
I guess what I am trying to do, is find out where is this installed so I can point the DBD::Sybase module for my ultimate goal
