irqbalance: WARNING, didn't collect load info for all cpus, balancing is broken

I'm running a centos 6 vps and I have this message occurring every ten seconds in /var/log/messages. I've been trawling google but can't find a solution, except for /etc/rc.d/init.d/irqbalance stop, then these messages stop. This is driving me nuts. I don't know how important irqbalance is and whether I need it running or not. There's no update for irqbalance I have. Is there a way to fix this?

AFAIK you do not need it on NUMA capable hardware.
