ok here goes, i have a swann max ip cam
http://www.swann.com.au/s/products/view/?product=433
and need to fwd the images it captures of movement onto my gmail account
ok first up it has an inbuilt option to do this but i cant get that to work
now there are two options i can see
option 1
i find a program that will take the feed from the camera and allow zoneminder to see it (zoneminder is all configured and works great with my usb webcam, but cant see the ip cam (i think it may be an activex issue, though i have a program on my t-mobile g1 called ip cam viewer that sees the max ip cam perfectly, hence the thought that i may get a middleman to sit between zoneminder and the camera)
option 2
the camera can ftp pictures, so if i set up an ftp on my server pc and have the pictures drop into there, then is it possible to have a script running that looks in that folder every 30 seconds and if a new file is there it emails it to my email address (to get zone minder to email me i have the server configured with sendmail) and then delete the picture from the folder or move it to a processed folder.
im not a scripter i dont fully understand linux so any basic step by step help appreciated
im using ubuntu (latest if that helps)
thanks in advance
