invalid image or kernal installing Poseidon 4
Hi All,
I've tried installing Poseidon 4 on my lenovo laptop. The other OS is Win7. I burned the .iso to a dvd, and upon rebooting to install I get the following message: "bad image or kernal" Then I get shunted back to the splash page with 4 or 5 other methods for install (text only, etc), but each method gets the same error message. Other tech notes: I partitioned ~30gigs of space on my hdd, but left it unformatted. I burned the .iso with some version of Nero, and I downloaded the .iso from http://poseidon.linuxfreedom.com/download.html. To install, I just put the dvd in the drive and restarted the machine. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance for your time and attention. brian |
If you got that far at least you burnt it correctly (as an image).
Check the md5 on that download page. If that matches, try burning at a lower speed. |
I did do the md5 check and it came out OK, though the file name in the md5 file was not what I downloaded. Once I changed the file to the correct filename it checked out.
I also tried burning at lower speeds and there was a write error both times. I've also been downloading another copy (all day!) to see if that .iso is any better. Thanks again! B |
Personally I don't think I'd bother (potentially) wasting the time and bandwidth. If the md5 matches, I reckon that indicates they may have a bad image.
If they have a support forum, I'd raise a query there. |
My solution was to switch to Mint 12.
The installation was flawless except that Mint doesn't recognize my docking port. |
