Question Interview Question help

hi everyone,

there is one question when interviewing I really don't know how to answer it.

Q: If server A is dependent on server B, for example dns master server and slave server, the scenario is that if the master server B is down, is it possible to detect whether server A is good or not? How to do it?....

could someone get some ideas?

Sincerely,

shawn

Homework? Final exam for a class?

This Google search appears very likely to have what you are looking for:

If it's a quiz / exam for a class, answer how you think the teacher wants you to answer it. Whether it's the right answer or not.

Otherwise it depends on how things are connected. If there's no network connection to the device you can't tell if it's okay, without physically seeing / touching / checking it out. If it is a DNS server, and there's power, and there's a network connection, and ..., and ..., and ..., do a DNS lookup to verify functionality. Do a ping to server to verify a network (baring a firewall that doesn't block a ping). And assuming a TCP/IP connection, not some Netbeui or other type of network. But it sounds like there's too little information to make that determination to me. Without making a whole lot of assumptions.

Do yourself a favor, and take a nice, long walk. Think about it.
