You need to download both Wine and Internet Explorer for Windows. Go to www.frankscorner.org for instructions on downloading and installing.

Please do not use those two words in the same sentence... IE does not deserve to be ported to Linux through wine or other means...

@damienduff and @kencaz:

IE is the main reason I can't switch entirely to Linux yet, as my bank requires IE for internet banking ... .

So I bookmarked the links ot this thread and will have a look...

JZL240I-U,
Your bank is stupid - but there's an easy workaround: See my post, and the following one in this thread:

Thanks for the hint, tredegar, I knew that.

What my bank does is much harder to circumvent. To keep it short, they distribute a program (star money) which uses IE to connect via a proprietary protocol into the bank's server .

Thus I need both to do my homebanking. If they don't switch to HBCI / FinTS by the end of the year I'll switch banks, and I told them I would do so ...

Apologies if I was pointing out the blindingly obvious ( I missed the "Senior Member" bit), but your bank is even worse than I thought! I'd switch banks. Happy financial transactions!

No apologies needed, my Senior in front of the Member is due to the many (stupid) questions I asked here . And yes, I'll very probably get rid of that bank .

Will the "Star Money" program run under WINE? If not, you're probably stuck with Windows and IE.

Up to now I simply didn't dare to try to run star money on wine, simply because I can't really assess the security implications (it's my hard earned money, after all).

And then I was under the wrong impression, that it is hard to near impossible to run IE on wine...
