Internet connection weirdness

I haven't used the computer for a couple of days, and when I come back, my internet connection is giving me some serious $h*t. It's going at a crawl, the 3/30+ times I try to visit a website, sometimes speeding up, sometimes not working (usually just giving me a "not found" error) in ANY browser. I haven't changed my connection settings since they last worked, and my connection is just fine in WinXP. Any suggestions? I've got a charter cable connection shared between two computers, one of which is not on so it can't be sapping bandwidth. Oyoyoy
