Hello there, just after a bit of help regarding Internet connection on Mandrake 8.1
Installed OS, using a Serial port V90/56kbps modem, I've created the Dial-up connection which connects, logs on to the network (or so it says) and then I can't get Konqueror or Netscape to use the connection, they just say the the host is unreachable.
The connection i'm trying to get working is a Freeserve account which works fine under WinXP, I've also tried using a Virgin dialup 'cos I have the DNS name and DNS Servers which I entered and still got the same response under the Virgin dialup.
Any clues of where to look next??
I used PAP authentication, Dynamic assigned IP etc but still no joy.
Any help will be appreciated, I'm wanting to try and use Linux as my main OS but have this one little stumbling block to get over first.
I tried taking down the eth0 interface but unfortunatly didnt work, It pointed me in the right direction though that it was trying to access the web via that, as it was a couple of hour old install I thought the easiest thing to do was grab a beer from the fridge, take the NIC out and do a quick reinstall.....the rest is history as I'm typing in Konqueror as we speak!!
Does anybody else have the problem that when they close the cd tray on the drive the cat tries to attack it and then mawls the front of the drive with velociraptor like claws??
