Intermittent problem with xine, ogle and xv

I have been using xine as my DVD player, but I'm trying to get into ogle. The thing is that ogle never gave me any video output (until just now) - it only ever gave me a very corrupted-looking green screen with apparently random changes in the colour level. Every now and then, I would get the same thing with xine. But recently, I've found that this is getting more and more frequent. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to fix it?
