All right, I see this thread getting either no attention at all or all the attention.
Everytime I look for a new program to do some task, be it an editor, audio sequencer, or even a bible, I'm surprised at the amount of programs out there. I was wondering if anyone has found a program that they think is quite useful or interesting that the rest of us may not know about?
If you use a distro based on apt-get/synaptic (Debian, Redhat, Conectiva, Jamd etc) you can "see" a lot of programs installed (or not) on your machine. It's a great way finding out programs/fun to when you are bored .
I consider Blender3D my favorite toy though:

We're going OpenSource soon with a reprogrammed version of the beta that can be found on the site... it's a DOS version which we have had up and running under Linux, and we're launching another program by january 2004 if all goes well.
Sometimes I come across a cool slackware package at www.linuxpackages.net, but I install the package from source anyway. (but their top10 is a nice place to look for apps too)
