Intel wireless driver install


i have had it with installing IPW 3945 abg intel wireless adapter on RHEL 5, the ieee80211 subsystem is killing me & every other thing produces an error & i am frustrated as hell, so plz can some one plz help me!!!

You don't need to do anything except put the firmware in the /lib/firmware directory. Get them here:

http://intellinuxwireless.org/

You might even find them in your repository.

thanx but

can u plz elaborate further on this bcz according to the Intel installation guide i have to go thru , the whole thing, which is very annoying

Just download the appropriate package from the site I mentioned, unpack the tar and put the file(s) in the /lib/firmware directory.

You're running Red Hat which I am pretty sure uses that system as Mandriva does.

After that, I assume RHEL has some sort of Netowk Control Centre to set the device up.
