Intel 64 bit linux distro


I heard that intel 64 bit cpu are out and I am going to buy an intel 64 bit and I want to know if gentoo is running in intel 64 bit

Sure is. Use the "AMD64" distribution.

Intel's EXT64 is basically the same as AMD64, but just like many people call x86-32bit IA32 because Intel got there first, people are calling x86-64 AMD64 because AMD got there first.


EDIT:

Ok... just in case... Gentoo is running on EXT64 enabled 64-bit Intel CPU's (Xeons and 64-bit Pentium 4's). To my knowledge there is no Itanium or "IA64" Gentoo..
