Question

If I actually knew the solution I would share it.
I couldnt actually reproduce the results on my other laptop using suse 10.1.
I decided to use a linux because the wireless works right from the install without even a hiccup.
why does a much larger distro not have this support?

Developers not in sync with hardware support?

It doesn't mean it will not work. You can still compile your own kernel, compile the drivers and use it. Distros only differ in the package management system.
