Installing ZSNES and a libSDL problem.! HELP!

Hey everyone,

I love my ZSNES when I used it on windows and DOS so I wanted to installit on linux, and it says this after i type configure:

checking for SDL - version >= 1.2.0... no
*** Could not run SDL test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means SDL was incorrectly installed
*** or that you have moved SDL since it was installed. In the latter case, you
*** may want to edit the sdl-config script: /usr/local/bin/sdl-config
configure: error: SDL >= 1.2.0 is required

My system package program says Ih ave SDL 1.2.7 which is the newest I even wen tto SDLs site and installed the newest one still does this error, I don't know how I am supposed to "configure SDL" also while im into this I get a similar thign with gltron about libPNG, what am I doing wrong guys .

My distro is slackware 9.1 with kernel 2.6.6.

Zsnes huh? . It's either hit or miss when compiling that "thing". Sometimes it seems to compile flawless, sometimes it returns those ugly errors as the one above....

The very best way to install it, is getting this rpm (I know you are on Slack, and yeah, I'm recommending you to grab this Mandrake rpm ):

ftp://ftp.univie.ac.at/systems/linux...-3mdk.i586.rpm

then, use rpm2tgz to convert that rpm to a native slackware package (.tgz) and install it as usual (installpkg <name of the package>).

Slackware can also install rpm's if you force an install with no deps, but I think the above method is more efficient, plus easier to remove if something goes wrong
