Sounds like you're going to have to buy/borrow a bigger usb stick, according to: http://store.microsoft.com/Help/ISO-Tool

Quote:

Note: When you download the ISO file, you must copy the file onto a USB flash drive or a DVD to install Windows 7.
However, you may get a better answer from microsoft support, as it is not really a Linux question. :)

I used vLite to fit the iso onto a 2gb USB stick. Only problem is, you need a windows install. Virtualbox would work though!

Possible but complicated. A rough outline is:

Create space for Windows, and somewhere to hold a disk image of Windows. Windows wants the first partition, so you may need to 'move' Ubuntu.
Install Windows in a VirtualBox.
Run sysprep /generalize on the VirtualBoxed Windows.
Disk image the VirtualBox.
Restore that image to the real hardware's Windows partition.

It'll be an involved process with many pitfalls, and include steps that if done wrong will destroy your existing Ubuntu install and data. You'd honestly be better off using vLite or buying a bigger USB stick.

ubuntu is destroying its self... this will be the last time i boot the system.. anyone else have any ideals? once i shut this computer off, it stays off, ubuntu will destroy itself.

This statement is simply wrong and absolutely ludicrous. Operating systems don't destroy themselves, they are destroyed by ignorant and careless operators.

Huh? Are you saying it's Ubuntu's fault that Windows 7 is 2.3gb???

You make a bootable flash drive with the smaller wim file. Then you point to the larger wim file mounted on a network. Dunno if you can point to one on a local drive but maybe.
