Installing vmplayer

Hi

I'm trying to install vmware player but when I run the vmware-install.pl file it asks various questions and I'm stuck on the one relating to the location of the C Header files for my kernel. I have copied over the linux-header files using apt-get and these have been installed in /usr/src.

It offers me an example of where the files should be (/usr/src/linux/include/) and I have even created these sub directories and put the header files there but it still will not accept them.

Here is typical scenario.

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include] /usr/src/linux/linux-headers-2.6.15-29

The path "/usr/src/linux/linux-headers-2.6.15-29" is an existing directory, but it does not contain a "linux" subdirectory as expected.

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Is this on a Mepis distro?

Thanks for your interest.

Yes its Mepis 6.5. I've now managed to solve the problem with vmplayer.

Glad to see you have it worked out. Was the kernel source installed?
