Installing Tor

Hi!

I have some problems while installing
Tor. It depends on the libevent package,
so I compiled the latest beta (1.4.0).

However, while ./configuring Tor, I get
the following message:

checking for libevent directory... (system)
checking whether we need extra options to link libevent... configure: error: Found linkable libevent in (system), but it doesn't run, even with -R. Maybe specify another using --with-libevent-dir?

How can I fix this?

EDIT: Never mind, I was just stupid enough to forget a flag....

Why are you trying to build tor from source? What distribution are you using. If it's one of the mainstream ones there is almost certainly a pre-built package for tor which will be WAY less hassle to install than building from source.

I use VectorLinux, which is based on Slackware.
I tried to slapt-get tor. Didn't find any packages.
