Installing software into a specified directory under knoppix
I need to install some software into /ramdisk under knoppix. I do:
Code:
./configure --prefix=/ramdisk
make
make install
As root. It comes up with an error message about a value not being an array or pointer. I'm not familiar enough with programming to debug it, all I wanna know is if I'm doing it right, and it's just an error in the program that's causing it not to install?
Originally posted by whansard isn't /ramdisk where knoppix keeps most of it's memory as temporary drive space?
maybe you need to make a directory somewhere else instead?
That's right, but I only need to install it temporarily until I reboot, and all the other knoppix directories are read only.
