Installing Slackware 8.0
I got slackware 8.0, as I've already stated in a previous thread. I am supposed to create some boot floppies, but I'm wondering if I actually have to. Can I just boot from the CD? Thanks in advance.

Yeah - if you can boot from the CD then that's your easiest installation route. The floppies are only needed if you can't boot the CD for some reason.

Thanks!
What would the reasons be? When I installed RH7.1, I could boot off the CD. Should anything change? I doubt it, but you know... *****Colonel Panic***** |

Okay. Another question:
I don't think I want to use fdisk or cfdisk. Maybe something like FIPS. SO, how would I just be able to select partitions to install my slackware system on, instead of having to make these partitions with fdisk or cfdisk. I have a 30 GB disk, with 5 GB or so allocated to RedHat 7.1, and would like to give 3 GB or so to Slackware. How would I do this? Thanks! Oh, one more thing, would I need a /boot partition for slackware? I think I do, but I'm not too sure. I don't really want to install LILO, being that it's already there (and with a pretty GUI, too :D)
Thanks for putting up with my questions! *****Colonel Panic***** |
